The Red Teacher“Girls, Desire What is Forbidden!” The place setting of this story is a girls’ high school of Gyongsang Province in 1985. To the main character Sunduk, her homeroom teacher Taenam is a perverted devil. An old bachelor of a rather stubborn nature, he tends to suppress the spontaneity of his students who have reached puberty showing a great deal of curiosity about sex. Because he exercises clout as a trusted man of the vice principal of the school, he is despised by all the students. None of them likes him. . He is a sorry fellow, however, who knows nothing about romance as he has never dated anyone. All he does well is yelling and shouting at his students. One day he discovers “Red Book, Vol. 1” at a local store. It is a bawdy sort of fiction, therefore banned by the government. But it spreads among the school girls quickly enough. The story ends quite abruptly with a terse note saying To be continued. Everybody is curious as to how the sequence will unfold, but no one knows where the second volume is. Sunduk decides to write the second edition herself on behalf of her friends dying to know the ending. Being a curious George himself, Taenam overlooks her clandestine project. How will the Red Book turmoil be resolved?
