La historia se desarrolla en una época en la que el mundo está dividido en tres reinos. El Reino Wei, poderoso, está enfrascado en una feroz lucha por el trono; el Reino Wu, centrado en el desarrollo y la planificación estratégica; y el Reino Zhao, sumido en la agitación, con la emperatriz Lu controlando la corte, lo que pone al país en peligro.
La princesa Jiang Taohua de Zhao, ambiciosa y decidida, busca escapar del control de la emperatriz Lu concertando un matrimonio político con Wei. Sin embargo, al llegar a Wei, es atacada por lobos y más tarde despierta acusada de una aventura con el canciller Shen Zaiye.
