Chen Xiaoqing, a documentary filmmaker, works on food documentaries and writing, searching for new flavors is his job. This program is the first time he goes in front of the camera to explore the stories behind the food with his own perspective. Chen travels to eight different regions in China, where he works with different guides to complete his own flavor journey. He believes that “food is not only delicious, but also a kind of adhesive that allows for more understanding and communication.”

Dunhuang is the intersection of the four civilizations on the Silk Road. This historical background makes Dunhuang scenery full of mixed blood temperament. And this hybrid gene is also permeated in people's three meals a day. Based on the historical records of the murals in the Mogao Grottoes and the documents in the Tibetan Sutra Cave, this film presents the distinctive ingredients and traditional cooking techniques of Dunhuang cuisine.
