“Love Song in Winter” is an urban suspense romance drama directed by Yu Chungchung (“Love is Sweet”) and Yi Yong (“Bright Eyes in the Dark”), and starring Johnny Huang (“The Thunder”) and Sun Qian (“Wild Bloom”). Adapted from the eponymous novel by Ning Long, it tells the romantic love story of the reunion of the detective Jiang Chengyi and the anesthesiologist Lu Yan. They encounter each other by chance eight years after breaking up, and unravel their misunderstandings as they work together to solve a serial murder case. 

Since the anesthesiologist Lu Yan (played by Sun Qian) “runs into” her dead college friend Deng Man (played by He Hongshan) during a night shift, strange things around her occur successively. As the investigation proceeds, the detective Jiang Chengyi (played by Johnny Huang), Lu Yan’s ex-boyfriend from many years ago, is embroiled in it, and the long-hidden truth of eight years is gradually revealed.

To stay in Wei, she offers to become Shen Zaiye’s concubine, making her a thorn in his side. Despite this, Jiang Taohua, who is poisoned, must fulfill Empress Lu’s task to bring down the Crown Prince.
Shen Zaiye, while known as a tough and unyielding official, secretly desires to support a wise ruler and strengthen Wei. However, he falls into a trap while investigating palace smuggling, leading to his unintended entanglement with Jiang Taohua. Although Shen sets a deadly trap to remove her, Jiang's willingness to risk her life earns his respect. 
Forced to live in Shen’s household, Jiang faces challenges from Shen’s wives and concubines, as well as his combative sister. But having grown up in Zhao’s treacherous palace, Jiang easily handles the internal household conflicts.
