The Eiffel Tower. Built in the 1880’s was the world’s tallest structure until the Chrysler Building was completed in New York.
Notoriety comes to those who attempt to jump from the structure, whether successful or not. Here we see a successful jump and a happy man. How d’you do!
However in 1912, Franz Reichelt, an Austrian tailor attempted to jump from the tower to demonstrate a parachute that he’d designed.
Tragically, Franz was killed. His suit however, was not unlike modern flying suits. As a parachutist, Franz was a good tailor but we dedicate this Play Of The Day to his memory.
