Indonesian President Joko Widodo said the government would like to see lower interest rates though emphasizing that the central bank conducts monetary policy independently. Bank Indonesia has cut rates three times this year by a total of 75 basis points rolling back some of last year’s policy tightening. Jokowi as the president is known spoke exclusively to Bloomberg News earlier this week.
