Ursula is desperate because Green shows no desire whatsoever to become a witch. She is much more interested in Soufi, a young boy who is in her class. Her one and only obsession is to find her father. Communication between mother and daughter is wearing thin so Anastasiatte, her wild eccentric grandmother, is called in to reconcile Green with her origins and see to her training in magic tricks. Many experiences will not turn out quite right and situations will lead to a few misunderstandings... In the process, little Green will realize that magic is a great way to become closer to Soufi and last but not least, to finally reunite with her father!...

China, early 1930s. Ashley, 14, has grown up in China where his father, a doctor, built a hospital. He was, however, brought up by Uncle Sung, a Tibetan doctor. The conflict between China and Japan forces them to leave the country hastily. Because of the climate of hostility towards Westerners, Ashley becomes Zong Ho, Uncle Sung’s Tibetan mute son. When the fall and its storms reach the Himalayas, Uncle Sung goes away to get food supplies and he leaves Ashley all alone in a hut in the mountain. At daybreak, the weather is settled again but Uncle Sung has not returned. Freezing and starving, Ashley discovers huge footprints in front of the house… and faints....

His neighbour, ALFRED RAKE is the victim of another symptom : he sneezes constantly although he has no cold. He is not very unhappy either but his nose is tickling quite often which makes him very anxious. Action is set in the Mississippi region in the 30's. Theodore Roosevelt Young, a twelve year-old black boy spends his time fishing in the pond, inventing songs - he isn't lazy, just a dreamer. Theodore runs away on the day of his mother's second wedding. His adventures lead him to Memphis where he works cleaning toilets and then on a train to Chicago without a ticket...
