주비 어렸을 때 외할아버지 이징은 단구낭을 구하느라 중독된다. 위제(伪帝)의 급습에 사십팔채가 함락된다. 무모하고 경소하는 소녀였던 주비의 어머님 이근용(李瑾容)은 아버지 잃은 후 모사 주이당(周以棠)을 찾아 원조를 청한다. 하지만 항소에게 거절을 당하며 주이당의 태도도 애매하니 이근용이 혼자서 올라가서 위제를 암살하기로 결심한다.
